New Beginnings

Greetings Urbanites!

It has been a long time since I posted anything regarding the Create A World Tool for The Sims 3. This past year has been a by busy one for me. I finally graduated from university with two degrees and my teaching license. The job hunt begins but I have a lot of time (when I'm not working) to work on worlds and have really got back into it. I have some new tools and objects at my disposal, mainly thanks to the CAW Forum at Mod The Sims. I have learned a lot about sculpting and painting. While not perfect, I have gotten better. I have begun a new world. My laptop decided to die a few months ago and I am waiting for the go-ahead to order the new one. For the time being, I am using a dinosaur of a desktop which leads to slow progress. But I digress. You are not here to listen to that stuff.

I present, the world of DaƩlta-Barone.

This world will be made on a large map. I'm contemplating using an existing distant terrain or trying to make my own. For now, the world ends abruptly. The world will contain a bustling downtown, of which some construction has been completed on the building shells. There will also be an industrial area along the coastline and some suburban areas. I am leaving room for Pets items. I do not have that EP yet but I will be getting it eventually. I do not have any pictures to show you yet. When I get them posted, there will be a twitter update to let you all know.

Back to work on the world and I should have some pictures in the next few days. Also, I do plant to use some custom content from Barnacle Bay. I had to modify the objects to make them show in the CAW and will keep you updated on the other objects, most of which will be from MTS but also some from AweSims and my own creations that will be hosted here.

Happy Simming!

Different Worlds

9:52 AM Posted by: Brady Seitz, 0 comments

Greetings Urbanites!

There has been a slight change in plans for the worlds I am creating. My laptop has been sent in for service again so Puerto Ayarta is taking a break from development. I have begun work on a different world on the desktop. This world I am calling Optare. This world will have oceans, lakes, rivers, mountains, plains, hills, and anything else I can think of. I am taking a completely different approach to this world. I am not using DEM data from the USGS for this world. This world I intend to create from the ground up so to speak.

I have rereading CAW tutorials and have gotten some good advice on hand sculpting a world as well as painting techniques. For what I have planned I will need to create so,e custom objects for the world. Nothing to major other than expanding on some objects in the CAW. I have a logo planned for the world but have not yet created it.

Stay tuned for more updates over the next few weeks. I have this coming week off from university before summer classes start so I should get quite a bit done if all goes well. Pics will be included in the next update. Follow the Twitter for more constant updates!

Happy Simming!

Ayarta Apartments

6:11 PM Posted by: Brady Seitz, 0 comments

The first apartments of Puerto Ayarta have been completed. These buildings are based on different architectural styles. The downtown core of Puerto Ayarta is one of history. Many historic styles will be represented in this section of the city. It will not be until the newer suburbs are built that more modern styles will be seen. More screenshots will come as new buildings are completed. Be sure to click each picture for a larger image!

The first apartment completed has been called the Rohel Building:

The building contains two, three story apartments. Each apartment has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The main floor contains an eat-in kitchen and living room. The second and third floors contain one bedroom and one bathroom each. There is access to a small back patio area. This apartment is inhabited by a Sim that has been designated as the tester of the world. He will be used to make sure buildings can be accessed properly and test the routing in the world.

The next apartment is the Elmyra House:

This building also contains two, three story apartments. Each apartment has two bedrooms and three bathrooms. The first floor contains the kitchen, living room, and a bathroom. The second and third floors each have one bedroom and a bathroom. Other than the obvious different architectural style, each apartment of the Elmyra House has five balconies. The balconies are not large but they offer much sought-after outdoor space. The apartments do not have access to ground level outdoor space.

Right now I want to take you on a quick tour of one of the apartments in the Elmyra House:

This is all I have for you today. There will be more updates in the next few days. Thanks for visiting Urban Sims!
